My cockatiel, Cedar, died the 26th of May. Saturday after Corky left my house. May he fly in Heaven forever.
I was heartbroken to say the least, and very very depressed.
So my dad got me a puppy.
Said puppy's name is Taj (like Taz, just with a J instead of a z), he's a Sheltie (they said the mom was a 20lb "miniature collie")-"hound dog" mix. I say the 70 pound 'hound' father was a Blackmouth Cur, which is popular in the south, and also has a color/markings/etc that Taj has, and he's now about 9 weeks old. Pictures will be posted soon, either here or as a deviation. He's a tennis ball terror, and has his own dogster. xD Taj was a miracle and still is to me, but I miss my Cedar-baby.
Now, there are things I've noticed about Taj that arent normal for a puppy who clearly wasn't cared for as much as he should have been (considering he was a pup from two free litters these people were giving away):
1. He prefers to do his business in the grass. As in, he'll whine to be taken on a walk, and he's already kind of housetrained.
2. He's a very quick learner. He sits on command 9/10ths of the time, and I only started teaching him less than a week ago.
In about a week, I have to take him back to the vet to check him for worms (which he has, but we havent been able to take him back yet to diagnose what kind(s) he's got.
In other news, I'll be quitting my job at Sears very soon, because I got a job at the Rave Theater, which was amazing in itself, considering there'd been a miscommunication. I was told to go there yesterday for an open interview, which the guy at the ticket booth said they weren't having at all. So he calls a manager, who comes and interviews me anyway saying he wasn't about to just send me away, and we talk and he asks me questions and all sorts of things, which eventually result in him saying that they were not in the hiring phase at the moment, but they were going to make an exception for me, and could I come in Thursday at 6 to fill out some paperwork.
Apparently what he was most impressed with was my answer of "11" to the question "On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the importance of customer service?". xD I told him I knew it sounded cheesy, but I really think it's THAT important. He also said that it sounded like I had been paid to say some things because they were so perfect in answer to the questions.
Anyway, it'll be about $.55 and hour of a pay cut, but it'll be better than my horrid job now (the two week notice will be going in after I figure out when the manager wants me to start), plus, there is potential for raises (which I learned Sears doesnt give at ALL) and promotions. The manager I was interviewed by was AWESOME and we talked about where I went to school and where I'd be going next year and where HE was going next year, what he did in high school, how college was hard for him, but he was ambitious, how I am ambitious, etc.
I'm really excited and happy that they're hiring me on. (The fact that Rave has AC helped in my decision to apply, because Sears has none...not even in summer)
Also, most of my financial aid for college has come in, and I'll have enough, I believe, to stay on campus for the next two semesters at least. Half of it is in loan form, but I dont have to worry about interest building up until 6 months after I stop being a full time student. You gotta love government paid interest.
This potentially means that I could possibly be rooming with Corky, which I need to ask her about AND look into for info on how to go about getting all set up and stuff.
Whelps, I guess that's about all for now. I've got an A in Chemistry Lecture and and A in the Lab, and a high C in Literature of the Western World, but I should be able to grab a B before the class ends in three weeks.
